LIGHTNING POLICIES

2023 Jan Rockhampton - Lightning policies

If you’re a local of Queensland then you would know that thunderstorms can occur any time of the year, and that most of our thunderstorms strike between September and March. This is due to the fact that the supply of solar energy is at its greatest.

To help keep the community of Rockhampton safe, we enforce a lightning policy.

The policy outlines that when lightning strikes within 10kms of our facility, all outdoor pools are cleared and kept closed for a minimum of 30 minutes.

The timer is reset every time the lightning strikes within the 10kms radius. It is important that members note that during this weather the indoor pools will remain open. Therefore swimming lessons will continue to run (rain, hail or storm).

For further information around our safety policies, speak with one of our friendly team members at reception.
