Rockhampton Regional Council has confirmed the allocation of $2 million included in the 2021/22, 2022/23 and 2023/24 Budgets for the redevelopment of the Mount Morgan Aquatic Centre.
The new aquatic centre is planned to include a new 25-metre, eight-lane pool with starting blocks and an all-accessibility ramp, as well as a splash pad, change rooms, shade structures, amenities, and portable grandstands, entry kiosk, landscaping, fencing, car park resurfacing and lighting.
Divisional Councillor Cherie Rutherford said Council will soon be consulting with Mount Morgan residents on the planned redevelopment of the Aquatic Precinct. “Council is absolutely committed to consulting with the community during the design phase for this project,” she said. “This facility will be for the people of Mount Morgan, so of course, we want to make sure that it will meet the needs of the community. “Concept designs are underway at the moment, and once these are finalised we will go back to the community.
“We look forward to getting their thoughts in the coming months on this project before it commences. As always, we will keep the community informed of upcoming consultations.”
